PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 2, 2019) – After playing an even first quarter, the Milligan College women's basketball team could not keep pace with Shawnee State University Saturday in a neutral game played at Pikeville University. Shawnee State posted high scoring in each of the next three quarters to win 106-50 in the Buffaloes' second game of the season.
Emily Kiser led the Buffs for the second time in two games so far this season, scoring 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Although Kiser was the only one in double figures for Milligan, 10 others made their way into the scoring column.
Teams were tied 17-17 at the end of the first quarter before an 18-0 run from Shawnee State spanning most of the second quarter put the Bears into a 21-point lead. The Bears then added a 25-4 run to finish the third quarter and opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to make it altogether a 33-4 run over roughly 11 minutes of action.
Up next, Milligan comes home to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for the first home game and first Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the season. The women and men's doubleheader is set to start at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, against Bluefield College. It will be the first of seven home dates for the Milligan women in the 2019 portion of the season.
