JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2019) – Nellie Berglund led the Milligan College women's golf team into the record book Monday at Johnson City Country Club. With Berglund's 71 and share of the individual low round, the Buffs shot 296 on day one of the East Tennessee Collegiate to set a new 18-hole team scoring record Monday.
Berglund, who was one stroke shy of matching the individual 18-hole record, was one of six Buffs inside the top 10. Michaela Lindahl followed in third with a 72; Emma Brown, sixth, shot 75; Madison Blanton and Danielle Mirovich, tied for eighth, shot 76; and Jenny Simonsen, 10th, shot 77.
Milligan's four combining scores for the record came from Berglund, Lindahl, Brown and Alayna Perryman, who shot 78 to tie for 15th through the first 18 holes.
Blanton, Mirovich and Simonsen led Milligan's B team which sits third, 14 strokes off the A team's lead.
Round two is set for Tuesday, and teams will begin play with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. back here at Johnson City Country Club. After that, the Buffs head to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 14-15, in Braselton, Georgia.
