MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 12, 2019) – Six members of the Milligan College women's soccer team found the back of the net Saturday night as the Buffs defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference member Bluefield 7-1 at Anglin Field.
Senior Bekah Cundiff scored two of the seven goals on the night with her first goal being the first of the game with an assist by junior Ellie Cachiaras 25 minutes into the game. Cachiaras fed Cundiff the ball from the left side of the field, almost all the way from midfield to allow Cundiff to score.
Only nine minutes later freshman Taylor Dawson would find the back of the net as well to make the score going into halftime 2-0. Junior Madison Hodges had a free kick into the box that Dawson tried to head in but her shot was deflected by Bluefield goalie Anna Flinchum. Dawson was then able to get the ball back and kick it in.
Cachiaras did not waste any time, scoring in the first minute of the second half to have the Buffs extend their lead to 3-0. Sophomore Ashlen Burch kept the momentum running as she scored a goal two minutes later to make the score 4-0.
Cundiff added on her second goal of the night in the 59th minute, and extended her goals against conference opponents to eight. Bluefield found the back of the net in the 64th minute but that was all the scoring Milligan would allow on the night. The Buffs then added two more goals from freshmen Danielle Calhoun (65') and Audra Morgan (84'). Junior Kasey Moore, and Cundiff both assisted in Calhoun's goal.
Milligan outshot Bluefield 40-1. 21 of Milligan's shots were on goal. Flinchum had 14 saves for Bluefield.
Up next, Milligan travels to Columbia International University for another AAC matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 5 p.m.
