MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2019) – Kellee Geren picked up her 11th double-double of the season Friday night as the Milligan College volleyball team defeated Truett McConnell University in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. With tonight's win Milligan improves their winning streak to four and remains undefeated in the month of October.

Geren had 35 assists on the night with her two main targets being Carley Gregory who had 10 kills and Julia Codispoti who had nine. Geren also assisted the Buffs defense with 13 digs alongside Layla Grant who had 17 digs, and Cameron McConnell who had 21.

Set-by-set

The first set was all Milligan, with the Bears never taking the lead. Milligan out killed Truett 14-8 and had a hitting percentage of .303 compared to the Bears .000. Gregory had five kills in the first set.

The second set was similar to the first with Milligan dominating the entire time. Truett had the first lead of the night with a service ace by Abby Maxwell to start the set. A Geren kill and back to back Truett McConnell attack errors gave the Buffs the momentum they needed to take the lead for the rest of the set. Ashelyn Vandergriff had three service aces during the second set and the Buffs out killed the Bears 14-7.

Milligan jumped out early again in the third set, not allowing Truett the lead the entire time. Milligan went on an 11-2 run to make the score 19-8, only a few points away from victory before Truett went on a 12-2 run to get back in the set and make the score 22-20. However, two Truett errors and kills by Julie Dockery and Geren were what the Buffs needed to secure the set and match victory. Milligan and Truett both accounted for 15 kills apiece in the third set but the Bears had eight errors compared to the Buffs five.
