Buffs take AAC victory over Montreat

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2010) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team picked up another AAC victory on Tuesday night as they defeated Montreat College 2-1 at Anglin Field.

Paidiwa Mushayamunda (Johnson City, TN) quickly put Milligan up 1-0 off of an assist fromNimely Robertson (Liberia) in the seventh minute of the game. The Buffs extended their lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute whenMoise Leonce (Port-Au-Prince, Hati) found the net. Montreat found the goal in the 73rd minute, but it was not enough as Milligan held on to the victory.

Defensively, Alex Haun (Strawberry Plains, TN) got the nod at goalkeeper and recorded four saves.

“It is a good result,” Head Coach Adam Laney said. “They are definitely a hurdle in the conference we had to overcome to put ourselves in contention, so it is good to get that out of the way. As a team, we are not satisfied with the way that the game went. I feel like we played about 50 minutes of good soccer, but we didn't play a full game and that is why it stayed close. I think if we had taken control of the game the way we should have, we would be more than happy with the result now.”

With the win, Milligan improves to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the AAC.

The Buffs return to action on Friday, Oct. 8, when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face William Carey College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
