Buffs blank Bluefield in AAC opener

Milligan College, Tenn. (September 15, 2010) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team marked their first win of the season on Wednesday night with a 6-0 victory against conference opponent Bluefield College.

Daniel Fuller (Plainfield, IN) scored the first two goals for the Buffs on a free kick and penalty kick in the 19th and 39th minutes, respectively. These would be the only goals for Milligan in the first half.

The Buffs recorded four goals in the second half with Sandre Wilson (Lauderdale Lakes, FL) and Pete Waller (High Point, NC) scoring two goals apiece. Both scored one goal on passes from Nimely Robertson (Liberia), who had two assists on the night. The Buffs ended their offensive attack with 17 shots on goal.

Defensively, Alexander Haun (Knoxville, TN) allowed no goals and recorded three saves.

“We've got a very athletic team, and it shows in a game like this where we can run and open up our legs a little bit,” Head Coach Adam Laney said. “I'm proud of the guys for being able to battle through those losses and turn the corner now.”

The Buffs are now 1-4 overall, and 1-0 in AAC conference play.

Milligan will host Southern Wesleyan University in a nonconference game at Anglin Field on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
