Buffaloes men's soccer powers past VI

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team picked up a 4-0 victory over AAC foe Virginia Intermont in a steady rain at Anglin Field on Tuesday night.

Milligan opened the scoring in the 30th minute when AAC Offensive Player of the week Sandre Wilson (Mandeville, Jamaica) outpaced the VI defense to find the net. Chris Ochieng (Nairobi, Kenya) extended the Buffaloes' lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute with an unassisted goal, and Milligan would take that lead into halftime.

The second half saw Wilson score again for Milligan in the 63rd minute. Paidiwa Mushayamunda (Harare, Zimbawe) wrapped up the scoring in the 88th minute with his first goal of the season.

As a team, Milligan outshot VI 24-1, and recorded 11 shots on goal.

“I don't think the rain hindered our game at all, and I think that the faster ball may have helped us,” Head Coach Adam Laney said. “It was great for Sandre to get two more goals, and we are certainly pleased with the result.”

With the win, Milligan improves to 5-0 in AAC action and 8-3 overall.

The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, when they travel to No. 22 Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla., for a nonconference clash. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
