Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team clinched the regular season Appalachian Athletic Conference title with a 3-1 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan at Anglin Field.

  The Buffaloes got on the board first in the 24
th minute when
Chris Ochieng (Narobi, Kenya) scored off of a
Nahom Tekle (Ethiopia) pass.
Nimely Robertson (Liberia) found the back of the net win in the 33
rd minute to give Milligan a 2-0 lead.
Sandre Wilson (Mandeville, Jamaica) capped off the Buffaloes scoring in the first half when he knocked in a
Moise Leonce (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) pass.

  The second half was a physical affair as both teams fought to get on the scoreboard. Milligan continued to attack the net, but was unable to capitalize on their opportunities. The Bulldogs got on the board in the 87
th minute when Juan Pedro Alba scored. However, the Milligan defense clamped down to preserve the 3-1 victory.

  Defensively,
Alex Haun (Knoxville, Tenn.) recorded eight saves in the contest.

  “It was a little bit of a hectic game attacking for us,” Head Coach
Adam Laney said. “We finished our chances there in the first half. The players had a job to do today, and they did it. I am proud of them.”

  With the win, Milligan finishes AAC play with an unblemished 6-0 mark, and improve to 11-4 overall. The AAC tournament is slated to begin on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Buffaloes will have home-field advantage throughout the AAC tournament.

   “It is a tremendous relief to have home-field advantage,” Laney said. “We have been playing for it all season long, and that is what our goal has been.”

  Milligan will finish out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29, when they host Lees-McRae College in a nonconference clash. Game time at Anglin Field is slated for 2:30 p.m.
