Bluefield, Va. (Sept. 17, 2011) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team picked up a 4-2 victory over Bluefield College in their AAC opener on Saturday afternoon in Bluefield, Va.
Chris Ochieng (Narobi, Kenya) opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he kicked in a cross from
Nimely Robertson (Liberia). Ochieng found the net again in the 33rd minute when he knocked in a free kick to put Milligan up 2-0 at the break.
Milligan put another goal on the board in the 50th minute when
Colby Robbins (Randleman, N.C.) saw his free kick hit the Bluefield keeper's hands and bounce into the net. After the Rams scored a goal in the 62nd minute,
Sandre Wilson (Mandeville, Jamaica) kicked a pass from Ochieng into the net to score the Buffaloes' final goal.
Defensively, freshman
Dan Ball (Chatham, England) recorded three saves.
“It was good to get the first win in conference,” Head Coach
Adam Laney said. “Now, we are going to look on from here and to Union on next Saturday. We need to put together a good game to get a good result.”
With the win, Milligan improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action.
The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they host AAC foe Union College. Game time is set for 7 p.m., at Anglin Field.
