Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team was unable to hold off a late Virginia Intermont rally as they fell 3-2 in the semifinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament on Thursday night at Anglin Field.

  In the first half, Milligan saw a pair of shots by
Nimely Robertson (Liberia) unable to get past the Cobra keeper in the opening minutes. The Buffaloes continued to attack, but
Colby Robbins (Randleman, N.C.) and
Lucas Maia (Rio de Janerio) saved by VI. However, the Buffaloes finally broke onto the board when
Chris Ochieng (Nairobi, Kenya) found the goal in the 36
th minute. The Ochieng goal gave Milligan a 1-0 lead at the half.

  Oching opened the scoring early in the second half for Milligan as he scored off an assist from Robbins. The Cobras cut the gap to 2-1 in the 64
th when Jose Rubio scored off an assist from Juan Carlos Molina, and then evened the score in the 80
th minute as Yannick Chiepodeu scored off an assist from Rubio. The Buffaloes were unable to score on shots from
Rusty Baxter (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Robertson in the final minutes as the game went to overtime.

  In the overtime period, the Buffaloes got the first chance early on a
Nahom Tekle (Ethiopia) corner kick. However, Milligan was unable to find the net. Virginia Intermont secured the win when Rubio scored in the 95
th minute.

  The Cobras will face Tennessee Wesleyan, who defeated Bryan 4-1, in the championship match which is slated for 6 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Anglin Field.

  The Buffaloes finish the season with a 11-6 overall record. They claimed their second consecutive AAC regular season title with a conference record of 7-1.
