Milligan men's tennis dispatches Lions

Mars Hill, N.C. (Sept. 13, 2013) --- The Milligan College men's tennis team captured a 6-3 nonconference victory over Mars Hill College on Friday afternoon in Mars Hill, N.C.
 
   The Buffaloes held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. The duo of Fernado Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile) and Jackson Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn.) defeated Joel Sturgis and Madison Mummert 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
 
   Caleb Friddell (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and Alex Delozier (Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) picked up an 8-2 victory over Blake Covington and Daniel Nelson at No. 3 doubles. However, the team of Colin Bumann (Abilene, Tex.) and Seth Buckmaster (Bluff City, Tenn.) were unable to rally past Euguerio Guerrero and Sam Lee as they fell 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.
 
   In singles action, Gonzalez battled back to take a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 No.2 singles victory over Sturgis. Buckmaster won at No. 4 singles over Covington 6-2, 6-2, and No. 5 singles saw Lenoir took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mummert. Delozier defeated Nelson 6-1, 6-1 to wrap up the Milligan victory.  
 
   With the win, Milligan improves to 2-0 on the season.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action Sept. 19-21 at the ITA Regionals in Georgetown, Ky.
