Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ramoya golden in victory over Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Sept. 6, 2014) â€" Calvin Mangunda's goal tied the game in the closing seconds of regulation and Jesse Ramoya's won it in overtime to keep the Milligan College men's soccer team undefeated with a 3-2 victory over Shawnee State University on the road Saturday afternoon.

Milligan, which has scored three or more goals in all three road matches this season, improved to 2-0-1 while Shawnee State dropped to 1-3-1.

"It was a hot game on turf and we didn't look as fresh as we have," Head Coach Adam Laney said, "but I'm very proud of the fact that we battled from behind and finished the game."

After battling through the first 45 minutes in a scoreless draw, Ramoya, a sophomore, opened the scoring with a converted penalty kick roughly 10 minutes past the intermission to put the Buffaloes on top 1-0. Shawnee State answered over the next 25 minutes by scoring twice to go ahead 2-1 and set the stage for an exciting finish.

With the seconds ticking down inside of 10, Mangunda provided the equalizer on an assist from sophomore Ryan Reilly to force the team's second overtime in as many games. It then took only eight minutes of action in the first overtime period for Ramoya to net the game winner, assisted by junior Andrew Torok.

Senior goalkeeper Dan Ball made two crucial saves in the second half to keep the Buffaloes within striking distance.

Milligan will next be in action on Friday, Sept. 12 for a road match against SCAD Savannah. Monday's home opener against No. 22 Bethel University has been canceled.
