ATHENS, Tenn. (April 12, 2015) â€"
Jackson Lenoir was the one bright spot on an otherwise gloomy day for the Milligan College men's tennis team. Entering Sunday's contest with high hopes of finishing the regular season with six straight wins culminating with a triumph on the road over the 21st-ranked team in the nation, the Buffaloes were instead handed an 8-1 defeat by Tennessee Wesleyan College.
ÂÂ
Milligan (6-6, 4-3 AAC) was quelled right from the start as Tennessee Wesleyan (14-2, 7-0 AAC) took all three doubles points and followed shortly thereafter with straight sets wins at two, four, five and six singles. Lenoir was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at three singles, and
Colin Bumann pushed his match to a third set but fell 6-3 in the third.
ÂÂ
Lenoir's victory was his seventh straight singles win and improved him to a team-best 9-3 record.
ÂÂ
With the regular season over, Milligan will next be in action at the AAC tournament, set for Friday-Sunday, April 17-19, at the DeKalb Tennis Center in Decatur, Georgia. Milligan is locked into the four seed for the upcoming tourney.
