Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Buffaloes fall in season opener

MILLIGAN COLLEGE (Aug. 27, 2016) â€" Milligan College's men's soccer team began its 2016 campaign on Saturday against the Faulkner University Eagles. The Buffaloes lost 3-1 in a highly physical game.

Milligan (0-1-0) did not open the way they wanted when Faulker's George Redwin scored in the opening seconds. Renan de Souza added to the Eagles' lead with 26 minutes left in the first half.

The Eagles picked up where they left off when Victor de Souza scored less than 10 minutes into the second half, putting Faulkner up 3-0.

Senior Ryan Reilly scored the first Buffalo goal of the season off of a penalty kick to cut into the Eagles' lead. However, Faulkner would hold on to win the game.

Junior Jack Allan created some opportunities with four shots out of Milligan's 10 total. Goalkeeper Nick Smith had some solid plays throughout the game, resulting in six saves and forcing several shots wide.

The Buffaloes return to action on the road at No. 19 Cumberland University on Monday and return home against Tusculum College on Thursday.
