Roberto Fernandez Garrido notching his team-high 13th goal of the season, the No. 8 seed Milligan College men's soccer team saw their season come to a close as they fell 6-1 on the road to top-seeded Point University (16-1-1) in the quarterfinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament Friday night.

The match was played at Trinity Christian School in Sharpsburg, Georgia, due to weather and field conditions at Point.

GARRIDO PUTS BUFFS WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE
After the Skyhawks jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first 23 minutes, the Buffs were finally able to chip into the lead in the 28th minute. Milligan was able to draw a Point foul inside the box and Garrido knocked in the penalty shot to put the Buffs within striking distance of the lead.

That would be as close as Milligan would get as the Skyhawks went on to score four unanswered goals to advance to the semifinals of the AAC tournament.

BY THE NUMBERS
For the match, Milligan was outshot 21 to eight, including 11 to three on shots on frame. The Skyhawks took all five corner kicks on the night.

Robell Habte and
Jonathan Russell each attempted two shots to lead the Buffs offensively. Senior keeper,
Luke Dove, registered six saves throughout the evening.

SEASON OF IMPROVEMENT FOR THE BUFFS
Overall, it was a season of improvement for the Buffaloes (7-8-2) as they picked up their most regular season wins since 2012. Milligan also scored 12 more goals and tallied 13 more assists in 2018 compared to 2017.

After an 0-4 start to AAC play this season, the Buffs went 3-1-2 down the stretch in conference to clinch a spot in the tournament. Milligan will return to action next fall.
