CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 14, 2022) – The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced its all-conference honorees at the start of the AAC Tournament on Thursday at the Champions Club in Chattanooga. Both the men's and women's tennis teams concluded their seasons with 4-0 quarterfinal defeats to third-seeded and No. 10-ranked Union on Thursday afternoon.
Freshman Sophie Dunman claimed the All-AAC Freshman Team status. Dunman also earned All-Academic status, along with teammates Kylie Enarson, Macy Kennedy, Karson Light and Hannah Nelson.
Carter Rigsby was tabbed as a member of the men's Champions of Character Team. Landon Brown, Derian Janeke, Carter Rigsby, Justin Rigsby and Daniel Roshak each collected All-Academic honors.
In the tournament action, Justin Rigsby and Ryan Thomas scored a 6-4 win at third doubles, but Union took the doubles point with wins at the other two flights. The Bulldogs won the second, fourth and fifth singles flights to secure the win.
In the women's quarterfinal, Kaitlin Barrett and Makenna Peterson gave the Bulldogs' top doubles flight a run for their money, trailing Union 6-5 before the match was called as Union captured the other two doubles matchups. Barrett won six games, but fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Milligan's men finished the season with an 11-8 record, the most wins for the program in a single season since 1968. The Milligan women concluded the year 12-8, the Buffs' winningest season since winning the AAC regular season title in 2016.
