Tennis sweeps Columbia (S.C.)

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 18, 2023) – The Milligan University men's and women's tennis teams both scored 7-0 victories over Columbia (S.C.) on Saturday afternoon at the Mathes Tennis Center.

Milligan men's tennis moves to 7-8 over and 3-2 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Women's tennis is now 6-6, 2-2 AAC.

Milligan's women triumphed over a short-handed Columbia squad that only had four players. The Buffs got a 6-1 win by Kaitlin Barrett and Camryn Rossa in first doubles to clinch the doubles point.

In singles action, Barrett won 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 slot. Sophie Dunman was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles, Hannah Dove took a 6-4, 6-0 victory at third singles.

On the men's side, the Buffs cruised to wins at every doubles flight. Carter Rigsby and Marcos Moreno won 6-1 at first doubles. Juan Camilo Burgos and Justin Rigsby won 6-2 at second doubles and Derian Janeke and Daniel Roshak took a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.

Krishan Teneja (6-4, 6-3) and Gabrijel Kajic (6-1, 6-2) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Nathan Smiley, Ryan Thomas and Moreno won in straight sets at third-through-fifth singles. Landon Brown won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Milligan tennis continues its AAC slate Monday afternoon at Bluefield.
