Horton Posts Perfect 300 at Thomas Burris Memorial, Buffs Women's Bowling Places Second

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Milligan University women's bowling had a stellar day on Sunday at the Thomas Burris Memorial in Louisville, Ky. Overall, the team finished the day in second place out of 17 teams and saw a standout individual performance from Emilee Horton, yet again.

As a team, Milligan managed a grand total of 5,829 pins, with four team games (4,157) and eight baker games (1,672). That number trailed only Lindenwood's 6,099. With a single team-game high of 1,161 pins in the second team game, the squad set a new program record in that category. They also put together a new baker set record, which is four baker games. They felled 881 pins over those four.

Emilee Horton was a huge reason that the Buffs had as successful a day as they did. She bowled a perfect 300 in team game number two, which is the first such performance in program history. Including that game, she totaled 929 pins, and averaged 232.25 pins per game, which was also a program-best tournament average. That stellar day gave her a fourth-place individual result.

Gracie Wyatt had a great day for Milligan JV1, knocking down 857 pins in team games, including 231 in her final one. She averaged 214.25 pins per game to finish 16th as an individual.

Back on the varsity side, Emily King came in just two spots behind Wyatt, placing 18th with a strong 839-pin total in team games. She scored 227 pins in her second team game appearance, while averaging 209.75 pins per game.

Just a few spots lower in 22nd was Emily Cheesman, who bowled a tournament average of 207 pins with 828 in total. Her top single-game performance came in game three with 226 pins toppled.

Allison Robbins placed 37th with a total of 776 pins and an average of 194 per game. She had a top game of 224 pins in her second team game out of four.

Lastly, Emilea Sturk came in 48th for the JV1 squad as the last Buffaloes bowler in the top 50. She scored a 745-pin total with an average of 186.25 per game. Her best game was 235 pins in her third game of the day.

After a record-breaking day, the team will now look ahead to the NAIA Southeast Regional in Atlanta, Ga. on Feb. 1-2.
