Buffs Men's Golf Places Eighth at AAC Spring Championship, de Bethencourt Named All-AAC

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Milligan University men's golf squad competed at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Spring Championships/NAIA Direct Qualifier on Monday and Tuesday at the Barnsley Resort and Golf Club in Adairsville, Ga. It was an eighth-place finish for the Buffaloes out of 14 attending programs.

Francisco de Bethencourt was able to work his way to a top-10 finish in 10th with a 12-over-par three-round score of 228 strokes. He shot eight-over-par in the first round, before righting the ship with a +3 total in round two and a +1 in the final round. With the effort, he was named to the All-AAC Second Team.

Hjalmar Liljenberg placed 18th, shooting 14-over-par for the event. He put forth rounds of 78, 77 and 75 as Milligan's second finisher.

For Manuel Gutierrez, it was a 33rd-place showing, as he shot rounds of 80, 76 and 80, respectively.

Esteban Hicks came away with 49th place after shooting 27-over-par, while Gustaf Lundberg placed 57th at 32-over-par.

The eighth-place finish for the Buffs was not enough to earn them a trip to the NAIA National Championships later this spring, as their season has come to an end. They will now look forward to their fall 2025 campaign.
