CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Milligan University's outdoor track & field squads took part in the Lee University Last Chance in Cleveland, Tenn. on Saturday, and posted nine personal-best marks as a program.
Brayden Simpson finished in the top 10 in the men's 110m Hurdles at 15.19, which netted him eighth place.
Romario Taylor placed ninth in the men's 400m, clocking in at 48.14.
Simpson then also finished in the top 10 in the men's 400m Hurdles, coming in 10th with a 54.95 mark.
In the women's 800m, Ellen-Mary Kearney notched a personal-best 2:09.07 clip to place third overall and better her NAIA 'A' standard mark. Morgan Wilson placed 15th for the MU women, managing a 2:25.06 for her personal-best, as well.
Luis Peralta won the men's 800m with a stellar time of 1:50.04, which was less than a second off his season-best time. Carter Windham also ran a spectacular race to finish seventh, crossing the line a 1:52.32.
Winston Telford and Blake Hipkiss both ran PR times in the men's 5000m, as Telford placed 13th with a 14:37.59, and Hipkiss came across at 14:48.68 in 15th.
McKenna Spaulding placed fifth in the women's 3000m Steeplechase, running a personal-best 11:52.90 in the process.
Alex Brittain came in eighth in the men's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:48.90.
Freshman Gracie Franklin posted a personal-best time of 4:51.24 in the women's 1500m, placing 15th.
Bryn Woodall notched a Milligan-record time of 3:42.90 in the men's 1500m, which gave him the NAIA's No. 3 time in the outdoor season. He also won the event.
Karly Wilhjelm finished in seventh in the women's 5000m, clocking in at 17:53.35 as a new personal best. Joanna Halterman came in 12th in the same event with an 18:46.14 as another personal-best clip.
Alyssa Bearzi came in seventh in the women's 10000m, notching a season-best 38:04.25.
Zimri Kuhn also came in seventh in the men's 10000m, managing a 31:17.91.
Milligan's men's 4x400m Relay team ran a 3:18.70 to finish third. Sylas Chambers, Peralta, Kaleb Spears and C. Windham were part of the run.
Elsewhere, in Hickory, N.C., Phillip Lotivio got his Decathlon at the Lenoir-Rhyne Last Chance and Multis Meet under way. He notched PR's in both the 100m (11.52) and the Long Jump (6.30m) to help him sit in fourth place with 2481 points after four of the nine events. Lotivio will continue his pursuit on Sunday in Hickory.
It was the final tune-up for several qualified athletes who will make the trek to Marion, Ind. on May 21-23 for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. More information on Milligan's participants will be revealed in the near future.
