Buffs Women's Golf Makes the Cut, Sits in Tie for Fifth Place with Two Rounds Remaining

YPSILANTI, Mich. — At the conclusion of round two at the NAIA National Championships at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich., the No. 13-ranked Milligan University women's golf team was able to make the cut in a tie for fifth place. That was thanks in large part to the efforts of their leader, the Queen, Kate Castle.

K. Castle ended her day on the links with a +1 score over 18 holes, which put her at four-over-par with 148 strokes in totality. She is tied for seventh place with two rounds left to be played.

Mallory TeVrucht is now in 40th place after shooting seven-over-par in the second round. She is now at +11 for the tournament as the second-highest placing MU competitor.

Bailey McGaha and Sarah Castle are tied at this point in the competition in 57th place, but both had very different paths to those spots. For McGaha, it was a sparkling day two in which she matched K. Castle's +1 in her second set of 18 holes, exorcising her first round woes. S. Castle's story was less encouraging, it was a tough start to her day, shooting eight-over-par through 10 holes. She was +1 in her final eight holes to finish +9 after a +6 round on Tuesday.

Catalina Easley also shot nine-over-par for the Buffaloes on day two, as she is now tied for 60th.

Sitting in a tie for the fifth position as a squad, the Milligan women are 29 strokes back of the leading British Columbia Thunderbirds, but just 17 behind the second-place Marian Knights. Milligan's third round will begin at 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, as Easley begins at that time and K. Castle is the final Buff to start at 10:30 a.m., with all Buffaloes starting at hole one.
