YPSILANTI, Mich. — On Thursday afternoon, the Milligan University women's golf program took part in round three of the NAIA National Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. at Eagle Crest Golf Club. After two stronger rounds, the Buffaloes took a step back, falling to 11th place out of 15 remaining squads. They shot 25-over-par in the third round.
Kate Castle remains atop Milligan's list of competitors, as she managed a highly respectable +4 round of 76 strokes to close the day tied for 13th place. She is just eight-over-par for the tournament and is six strokes back of fourth place as an individual.
A new MU golfer sits second-highest on the Buffs' totem pole, as Bailey McGaha improved to a tie for 48th place following a five-over-par third round. She is now a combined +20 for the event after shooting +14 in the opening round.
Mallory TeVrucht is now in a tie for 57th place, currently shooting 22-over-par through the three rounds. She had her least effective round on Thursday, finishing at +11.
Catalina Easley remains tied for 60th, steadily adding another +7 round, her second such 18-hole score of the weekend. She is now 23-over-par at the National Championships.
Lastly, Sarah Castle dropped to a tie for 62nd, as she is now at 24-over-par for the tourney. She turned in a nine-over-par round on Thursday, and is at +24 for the event.
Sitting in a tie for the fifth position as a squad, the Milligan women are 29 strokes back of the leading British Columbia Thunderbirds, but just 17 behind the second-place Marian Knights. Milligan's third round will begin at 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, as Easley begins at that time and K. Castle is the final Buff to start at 10:30 a.m., with all Buffaloes starting at hole one.
