Buffs Men's Soccer Boasts Clean Sheet on the Road at Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga. – The (RV) Milligan University men's soccer squad played their first road Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) contest of the season on Saturday night on the campus of Reinhardt University. It was an encouraging result for the Buffaloes, who pitched a shutout and scored twice en route to an AAC victory.

The two sides possessed the ball almost evenly throughout the first half, while evenly splitting 10 shots in the period. The one goal of the first 45 minutes came via Kerim Akpinar, who tallied his fifth of the season in the 30th minute. That goal gave the Buffs an early 1-0 advantage entering the intermission.

After another evenly played half, in which both sides took their fair amount of shots, the Buffaloes were able to double their lead in the 85th minute. The knife to the heart of the Eagles came off the foot of Justin Madejski, on an assist from Federico Confaloni, to give Milligan a commanding two-goal edge with four minutes and change remaining. In the half, the Eagles actually sported more shots, holding a 7-6 advantage, but that would not be enough to break the seal on the MU net.

The two teams each had 11 shots in the contest, with RU holding a 7-5 edge in attempts on frame. For the Buffs, Akpinar had four total shots and two on goal, including the game-winning tally. Emir Basar took three shots, with one ending up on net. Madejski and Youseff Heggy split the four remaining shots for the squad, with each sending one on frame, including Madejski's goal.

Adria Alles had what may have been his best performance of the campaign to this point, saving all seven shots on net that he faced to earn the clean sheet triumph. After what was his third shutout of the season, his overall record now stands at 3-2-1.

Milligan returns to Anglin Field for another AAC tilt against the Bryan College Lions, who the Buffs fell to in the AAC Tournament Semifinal round in 2024, on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
