BRISTOL, Tenn. – The No. 4 ranked Milligan University men's cross country squad played host to the Eli Cramer Invitational at Steele Creek State Park in Bristol on Friday night, honoring the legacy of Buffaloes' hall-of-famer Eli Cramer. Like the women's race, the men took part in a 5k competition, as the Buffs sported the top eight finishers en route to a team title over King University.
Bryson Lewis' 16:24.6 was enough to make him the individual title winner, but just by hundredths of a second over
Aaron Gottlied (16:25.0),
Winston Telford (16:25.3) and
Josh Hale (16:25.3).
Luke Kennedy came away with a mark of 16:37.6 to close out the top five finishers.
Ashton Sheesley's time of 16:45.4 put him in sixth, with
Jack O'Leary clocking a 16:50.9 to place seventh.
Joseph Abbott was the last of the uninterrupted group of Buffaloes in eighth at 16:52.4.
After a King finisher in ninth,
Evan Holbrook came across in 10
th at 17:29.6, followed by
Eli Cox at 17:31.0 in 11
th.
Daniel Hornbuckle (17:34.2),
Granville Sexton (17:58.6) and
Bailey Wade (18:17.9) finished in 13
th through 15
th overall, and
Talan Hammack crossed the line in 19
th with a time of 18:49.8.
Next, Milligan heads to the App State Firetower Project in Boone, N.C. on Oct. 3. The NCAA Division I-heavy field will serve as a check-in on the Buffaloes' top runners' statuses with just over a month before the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships in November.
