Dallas Eddie Carver graduated from Milligan in 1975 with a degree in business administration.
· Following his service in the U.S. Army, which included a year in Vietnam, Dallas arrived at Milligan and quickly established a reputation as a relentless rebounder, serving as a catalyst that helped propel the men’s basketball program to four consecutive winning seasons.
· He once pulled down 29 rebounds in a single game and finished his career at Milligan with 1,539 rebounds.
· As a senior, Dallas was a co-captain of a Milligan team that posted a 25-6 record and claimed a share of the Volunteer State Athletic Conference East Division title.
· He averaged a double-double during his career at Milligan despite never playing organized basketball before arriving on campus.
After graduating from Milligan, Dallas embarked on a 29-year teaching and coaching career, the last 26 of those at his alma mater – Elizabethton High School. He taught economics and psychology at three high schools in Carter County – Cloudland, Happy Valley, and Elizabethton.
Upon his retirement, Dallas served as an assistant coach for Elizabethton High School’s girls’ basketball team for eight seasons. During that time, the Lady Cyclones won a TSSAA state championship. He was inducted into the Carter County Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
Dallas has enjoyed working with his wife, Janice, on various real estate projects over the years, but these days, they are enjoying a quieter life spending time with their two granddaughters, Nevaeh and Isla, who keep them young at heart.
Please join me in congratulating Dallas Eddie Carver on his induction into Milligan’s Athletics Hall of Fame.
