Bristol, Tenn. (Oct. 6, 2009) --- The Milligan College volleyball squad fell to the Lady Tornado of King College (
Bristol, Tenn.) Tuesday night on the road by a final of 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 19-25, 12-25).
With the loss, the Lady Buffs slip to 8-8 overall and remain 3-3 in league play. King advances to 17-2 on the year with the win.
Offensively, the Lady Buffs were sparked by Tennessee High product
Kristin Hobbs (Bristol, Tenn.) who tallied 10 kills. Newcomer
Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) pitched in eight kills for the Lady Buffs. Freshman
Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) led the Lady Buffs with 33 assists, while sophomore libero
Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) aided the defensive effort with a team high 15 digs.
“All of our losses this season have been a result of the first set so tonight we made it a point to focus on the opening game,” commented Head Coach
Doneva Bays. “We accomplished our goal, but we just did not keep that same drive and determination for the remainder of the match which cost us.”
The Lady Buffs host the Lady Cobras of Virginia Intermont on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. This AAC matchup begins at 6:30 p.m.ÂÂ
