Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 7, 2009) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team shutout the Lady Tornado of King College Wednesday night at Anglin Field by a final of 1-0.
After a scoreless first half for both squads, former Hilltopper Kelsey Kind (Johnson City, Tenn.) netted her first goal of the season in the 54th minute to give Milligan the 1-0 advantage. The Lady Buffs kept the Lady Tornado silent for the remainder of the match to come out on top against their former AAC foe. ÂÂ
Defensively, freshman keeper Heather Crumplen (Courtice, Ontario) recorded her second shutout in as many games and tallied six saves in the contest. ÂÂ
“It's always great to beat King,” commented Head Coach Lisa Buckley. “We were not playing our best soccer tonight, but we played with a lot of heart and got a result. We are starting to build confidence as the year goes on and hopefully we can peak at the right time.”
The Lady Buffs proceed to 3-4-2 overall and remain 1-1 in league play, while the Lady Tornado drop to 8-4 on the season.ÂÂ
The Milligan women travel to Sewanee, Tenn., to take on the Lady Tigers Saturday, Oct. 10, for a non-conference matchup.  ÂÂ
