Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 8, 2009) --- The Milligan College women's tennis team blanked the Lady Wasps of Emory & Henry Thursday afternoon at the Mathes Tennis Center 9-0, while the Milligan men were knocked off by a final of 7-2. ÂÂ
The duo of junior
Caitlin Conley (Bristol, Tenn.) and sophomore
Albany Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) won decisively in the no. 1 doubles slot over the Williams sisters of Emory & Henry, 8-1. Conley went on to take the no. 1 singles match as well going 6-1, 6-0, while Kelly went 6-0, 6-2.ÂÂ
The Lady Buffs improve to 2-0 during their fall season, with their other victory coming over King College. ÂÂ
On the men's side, sophomore
Wesley Rice (Knoxville, Tenn.) won the no. 3 singles match with an impressive 6-3, 6-0, win over the Wasps Mike Rogers. Milligan senior
Bryan Upshaw (Kingsport, Tenn.) defeated Emory & Henry's Hunter Romano in the pro-set 8-1 to secure the no. 5 singles match.  ÂÂ
With the loss, the Buffs slip to 0-2 during the fall season. ÂÂ
Both the Milligan men and women are finished for the fall season and will kick off their 2010 campaign against Tusculum College (
Greeneville, Tenn.) on Feb. 20.    ÂÂ
