Milligan volleyball falls to Mars Hill

Mars Hill, N.C. (September 1, 2009) --- The Milligan College volleyball team fell to NCAA Division II Mars Hill College on the road Tuesday evening. The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Buffs 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 16-25, 17-25).

Milligan was led offensively by sophomore Kalyn Perrigan (Bristol, Tenn.) who tallied nine kills, while junior Emilee Hale (Morristown, Tenn.) was one behind at eight. Freshman Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) led the Lady Buffs in assists once again with 29, and also pitched in 12 digs and four kills. Sophomore Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) chalked up 29 digs to lead the squad.

“We just came out really flat tonight and lacked the intensity we usually play with,” commented Head Coach Doneva Bays. “We have to continue to work hard and pick up the intensity and play point for point to let ourselves succeed.”

The Lady Buffs host NCAA Division II North Greenville University on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
