Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 12, 2009) --- The Milligan College men's and  women's tennis teams faced off against former AAC rival King College Saturday at  the Mathes Tennis Center. The Milligan women knocked off King 6-3, while the  Milligan men lost to the Tornado 9-0.   
The Lady Buffs took two of the  three doubles matches with junior 
Caitlin Conley (Bristol,  Tenn.) and sophomore 
Albany Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.)  winning the no. 1 doubles match 8-2. King took the second doubles match, but the  duo of newcomer 
Halie Winfrey (Fayetteville, Ga.) and senior  
Janie Mullins (Greenville, Ala.) took the no. 3 doubles match  8-2.   
During the women's singles, Conley battled back at the no. 1 spot  after losing a close first set to defeat Sarah Anderson 10-6 in the tie breaker.  Kelley won decisively in straight sets against King's Nevise Stoltz in the  women's no. 2 spot. Securing the win for the Lady Buffs, were Mullins and junior  
Heather Bell (Franklin, N.C.) as they both won their singles  matches (6-1, 6-3) and (6-2, 6-3), respectively.   
On the men's side,  the no. 3 doubles team of senior 
Bryan Upshaw (Kingsport,  Tenn.) and newcomer 
Mickey Brown (Blountville, Tenn.)  battled against King's Patrick Jones and Nick Smith, but lost the pro set 9-7.  Sophomore 
Wesley Rice (Knoxville, Tenn.) took Tornado Seth Hale  to the tiebreaker set, but lost the decider 10-7.   
Both the men's and  women's tennis teams travel across town to play in the East Tennessee State  University Fall Classic on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20.   ÂÂ
