After a shaky first match with the Lady Buffs falling 25-15, Milligan bounced back with authority to take the next three sets consecutively 25-15, 25-23 and 25-20.
Sophomore libero Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied 33 digs from the back row to pace the Lady Buffs defensively. “I am thrilled with the win tonight,” commented Head Coach Doneva Bays. “With us only playing one match last week, we were very eager to get back on the court. We came out a little sluggish in the first match, but rallied back for the win. Hopefully this will give us a confidence boost as we open up AAC play this weekend.”
The Lady Buffs open up their conference play against the AAC foe Bryan College (Dayton, Tenn.) on Friday, Sept. 11. The action between the powerhouse squads begins at 6:30 p.m. in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
