The game stayed close for the first part of the opening half, but Milligan used a 14-0 run and held the Cavaliers scoreless for six minutes as the Buffs took a 51-24 lead into halftime. Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) paced the way in the half for Milligan with 13 points, while Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) added nine points.

As a team, the Buffs shot 16-of-31 (51%) from the field and 6-of-10 (60%) from behind the arc in the first half, while Montreat was just 26% from the field and 25% from behind the 3-point line. The Buffs also forced 16 Cavalier turnovers in the half.

The second half saw Milligan continue dominating after Montreat got an 8-0 run to start the half. However, the Buffs picked up the pace and led by as many as 33 points midway through the half. Milligan continued their hot shooting as they were 15-of-33 (45%) from the field, while Montreat was 20-of-33 (61%) in the half.

“The most important thing was we got a conference win that we needed,” Robinson said. “We needed to get back on track. It was great to come back and see friends and family, but I am glad that it's over. I'm just excited that we got a victory that we needed.”

Seymour led the way for the Buffs with 20 points and eight rebounds. Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.) had 14 points, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range, four assists, and four steals. Kyle Donahue (Greeneville, Tenn.), Dustin McConnell (Kingsport, Tenn.), and Sitton all ended the game with 11 points.

With the win, the Buffs improve to 7-12 overall and 4-5 in AAC play, while Montreat falls to 2-19 overall and 1-8 in AAC play.

The Buffs return to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse to start a two-game home stretch on Monday, Jan 25th when they host Maryville College. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
