Montreat, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2010) --- The Milligan College  women's basketball team won another tough road game Saturday night against the  Lady Cavaliers of Montreat College, 77-63. The victory sets up a showdown for  first place in the AAC on Wednesday between the Lady Buffs and  UVA-Wise.
In the first half the Lady Buffs went to the free-throw line 16  times, making 14 (88%), while shooting 9-of-18 (50%) from the field and shooting  a perfect 3-of-3 from the 3-point line.
In the second half, the hot  shooting continued for the Lady Buffs as moved past the Lady Cavaliers. The Lady  Buffs shot 11-of-19 (58%) from the field and 3-of-5 (60%) from the 3-point line  in the second half. Milligan was 20-of-37 (54.1%) for the game from the field,  while the Lady Cavaliers only shot 26-of-66 (39%). Milligan was 31-of-35 (88.6%)  from the free-throw line compared to the Lady Cavaliers 6-of-9  (66.7%).
Leading the way offensively for the Lady Buffs was  Heather Mandela (Fairfax, VA.) with 19 points and 12 rebounds,  which is her 13th double-double this season. Also scoring was Megan Casteel (Greeneville, Tenn.) with 14 points while shooting a perfect  4-of-4 from the 3-point line. Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.)  chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Jamiee Hill  (Johnson City, Tenn.) chipped in with 12 points and five  rebounds.
“It was a good solid road win,” said Head Coach Rich Aubrey. “We had key contributions from our bench, and they have been  great all year. We didn't go as deep into the rotation as we usually do, but  when they were on the floor they really helped.” 
The Lady Cavaliers were  led by Chaecie Bullock with 18 points and Alicia Wallace with 15 points. Wallace  fouled out with five minutes to go in the second half as well.
With the  win, the Lady Buffs improve 14-8 overall and 7-2 in the conference, while  Montreat slips to 14-6 overall and 4-5 in the AAC.
The next time the Lady  Buffs tip-off will be Wednesday, January, 27 at home against UVA-Wise in a  showdown for the top spot in the AAC. The game is set to begin at 5:30  p.m
