Bluefield, Va. (Jan. 9, 2010) --- The Milligan Buffs came up short in their fourth straight road game as they fell 65-62 to the Rams of Bluefield (Va.) College in AAC play.
The game was tied with under 40 seconds left before Bluefield took a 2-point lead. On their ensuing possession, the Buffs were unable to get any points as they turned the ball over, and were forced to foul. From the line, Bluefield missed the front end of a one-and-one, but got the offensive rebound and added another free throw to their lead. The Buffs had a chance to tie the game, but were unsuccessful.
For the Buffs, they were unable to overcome a 46 percent shooting night from the Rams as Milligan shot just 35 percent from the field.
Justin Sylvester (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the way for Milligan with 22 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) and
Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) had 15 and 14 points, respectively.
With the loss, Milligan falls to 2-3 in AAC play and 4-9 overall while Bluefield improves to 7-9 overall with a 4-2 mark in conference play.
Milligan returns to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for the first time since Dec. 5, on Monday, Jan. 11, when they host the Crusaders of Tennessee Temple in nonconference action. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
