Buffs come up short in nonconference play

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 26, 2010) --- The Milligan College Buffs soccer team came up short in nonconference action on Tuesday night as they fell 2-0 to University of the Cumberlands at Anglin Field. The Patriots are ranked 19th in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Milligan was unable to respond to a Patriot goal in the third minute of the game as the Buffs trailed 1-0 at the half. The Buffs took their shots in the second half, but were unable to find the net as Cumberlands added to their lead in the 75th minute to reach the margin of victory.

“We played with some energy and emotion, and put a good team on their heels,” Head Coach Adam Laney said. “While we always want to win, it is nice to play a top quality team like that and give them a scare.”

With the loss, Milligan falls to 7-8 overall and remains 4-2 in AAC action.

The Buffs will close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 30, when they travel to Athens, Tenn., for a showdown with Tennessee Wesleyan. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
