Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2010) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team picked up their first victory of the season as they defeated Warren Wilson College 95-65 inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The opening of the game saw both teams battle back and forth before the Owls jumped out to a 16-11 lead at the 14:21 mark. However, the Buffs fought back asÂÂ
Justin Sylvester (Kingsport, Tenn.) tied the game at 16. Milligan took the lead whenÂÂ
Tim Harper (Catawba, N.C.) scored off of aÂÂ
Kyle Grisby(Charlotte, N.C.) steal. From that point, Milligan did not look back as they raced to a 54-34 halftime lead.
The Buffs kept the pressure on in the second half as they added to their lead in the period to secure the 95-65 victory.
Hudson Fricke (Greeneville, S.C.) led Milligan with 18 points.ÂÂ
Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) and Harper added 14 points apiece, and Grisby had 13 points.ÂÂ
Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Sylvester recorded 12 and 10 points, respectively. Harper led the Buffs with nine rebounds.
“We just needed to get one win,” Head Coach
Bill Robinson said. “You need to get that win on the board. We just need to get healthy now. We get a week off before our next game, and we need to get some key guys back healthy to more resemble the team we thought we were going to have at the start of the year.”
With the win, Milligan improves to 1-4 on the season.
The Buffs return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23, when they host Alice Lloyd College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
