Lady Buffs basketball overpower Tenn. Temple

Chattanooga, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2010) --- The Milligan College Lady Buffs basketball team traveled to play the Tennessee Temple Lady Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 72-66 win in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Milligan played tough defense in the first half and went into the break leading 42-29. The Lady Crusaders fought back in the second half and cut the lead to 44-40. However, Ashlee Price (Rogersville, Tenn.) and Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) helped the Lady Buffs maintain their lead, and the Lady Crusaders could not get any closer.

Milligan had a balanced scoring attack lead by Heather Mandela (Fairfax, Va.), who had fourteen points, and Megan Casteel (Greenville, Tenn.), who added twelve points. Mainer barely missed a double-double as she recorded ten rebounds and nine points. Price chipped in eight clutch points, all in the second half. Jaimee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) also recorded ten rebounds.

“Ashlee came up huge for us in the second half,” said Coach Rich Aubrey. “Without her points in the second half, we might not have won the game.”

With the win, Milligan improves to 4-3 overall.

The Lady Buffs return to action this weekend when they participate in the Berea College Classic. Milligan opens the event on Friday, Nov. 19, when they face host Berea College. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 p.m.
