Johnson City, Tenn. (Nov. 6, 2010) --- In the AAC women's soccer tournament quarterfinals, the No. 3 seeded Milligan College Lady Buffs defeated the No. 6 Bluefield Lady Rams 3-0 on Saturday at Science Hill's Kermit Tipton Stadium to claim a spot in the semifinals.
In the first half, junior midfielder
Erin Brewer (Brownsburg, Ind.) scored first for the Lady Buffs in the 25th minute. Freshman midfielder
Hannah Kellogg (Louisville, Ky.) followed up with another goal for Milligan in the 33rd minute to put the Lady Buffs up 2-0 at the end of the first half.
Junior defender
Taylor Pendleton scored the lone goal for Milligan in the second half in the 80th minute, sealing the 3-0 victory for the Lady Buffs.
Defensively, the Lady Buffs allowed two shots on goal from the Lady Rams, both of which were saves for sophomore goalie
Heather Crumplen (Courtice, Ontario).
“I feel good about this win,” Head Coach
Lisa Buckley said. “We possessed the ball really well tonight, which is typically our strong point, and it was nice to get three goals. We are ready for postseason play.”
Milligan returns to action on Friday, Nov. 12, in the AAC semifinals matchup against the No. 2 seeded Union College at Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
