Buffs split with Cavs in AAC opener

Milligan College, Tenn. (March 6, 2010) --- The Milligan College baseball team split with the Cavaliers of Montreat (N.C.) in their AAC opener Saturday afternoon on Anglin Field. Montreat took the first contest 5-2, but the Buffs battled back to take the nightcap 3-0.  

In the opener, Colin Duffie (Calhoun, Ga.) was handed the loss in three innings of work. On the outing, Duffie scattered eight hits and surrendered four earned runs, while striking out a batter. For the year, Duffie is 1-3.  

Offensively, former Happy Valley standout Ricky Morgan (Johnson City, Tenn.) sparked the Buffs going 2-for-2 on the day including a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sophomore Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 in the opener.  

In the second game, Milligan came out on top 3-0. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Morgan had a RBI triple to give Milligan a 3-0 lead and the victory.  

Shawn Ray (York, S.C.) got the victory to move to 2-1 on the season. In seven innings work, Ray only allowed three hits and gave up no runs. Morgan was 1-for-3 with three RBI and three assists. Brett Maddox (Lake Butler, Fla.) had four assists in the game. 

Milligan hosts the Cavaliers of Montreat for the final game of the series Sunday, March 7, on Anglin Field. The single 9-inning contest is slated for 2 p.m.
