Central, S.C. (April 14, 2010) --- The Milligan College Buffs hit the road for a nonconference game, and came back with a 18-3 victory in seven innings over Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C. on Wednesday afternoon.
Frank Newcomb (Knoxville, Tenn.) recorded the victory on the mound for the Buffs. Newcomb pitched five innings, and struck out four Warrior batters while allowing three hits and one run.
Offensively, Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) led the way as he was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Wesley Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) had two hits and three RBIs including a two run homerun, and Ricky Morgan (Johnson City, Tenn.) also had two hits and three RBIs. In all, Milligan combined for 16 hits.
With the victory, the Buffs improve to 25-12 overall and remain at 13-5 in the AAC.
Milligan returns to the diamond on Saturday when they host AAC leader Union College on Saturday afternoon for a pivotal conference game. The Buffs look to overtake the Bulldogs as they trail by a game in the conference standings. The first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. at Anglin Field.
