Buffs' rally falls short of No. 24 Union

Milligan College, Tenn. (April 18, 2010) --- The Milligan College Buff baseball team wrapped up the home portion of their 2010 schedule as they fell 9-7 to No. 24 Union College in a Sunday afternoon nine inning contest at Anglin Field, a day after splitting an AAC doubleheader with the conference leader Bulldogs.

Milligan fell behind 8-3 at the end of the fourth inning, but the Buffs kept fighting to stay in the game. The Buffs got a runner across home in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the ninth, but they were unable to pull close the gap any further.

Aaron Dorriety (Pickens, S.C.) recorded the loss for the Buffs on the mound. In four innings of work, Dorriety gave up five hits and eight runs, three of which were earned.

Offensively, Kendall Williams (Dillon, S.C.) led the way at the plate as he was 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Eric Oxley (Ardmore, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 with a RBI while Todd Caldwell (Johnson City, Tenn.) was 3-for-4 with a RBI.

With the loss, the Buffs fall to 26-14 overall and 14-7 in the AAC, while Union improves to 31-12 overall and 16-5 in the conference.

Milligan will return action on April 24th when they travel to Wise, Va., for an AAC weekend series with the UVA-Wise Cavaliers. The first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1 pm.
