No. 25 Buffs take first game over Eagles

Milligan College, Tenn. (April 2, 2010) --- The 25th ranked Milligan College Buff baseball team defeated AAC newcomer Reinhardt Eagles 11-3 in the first ever meeting between the two programs on Friday night at Anglin Field.

Milligan struck quickly as they put five runs on the board in the second inning, and then tacked on a run in the third to take the early 6-0 lead. Reinhardt scored their first two runs in the top of the fourth, but Milligan countered the Eagle scoring with a run of their own. The Buffs crossed the plate four more times in the game to take the victory.

Aaron Dorriety (Pickens, S.C.) got credit for the victory on the mound. Dorriety pitched seven innings allowing six hits and two unearned runs. Dorriety recorded seven strikeouts.

At the plate, Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) led the way as he was 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs. Todd Caldwell (Johnson City, Tenn.) was 3-for-4 with 1 RBI and Brett Maddox (Lake Butler, Fla.) was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI and a homerun in the bottom of the third.

With the win, the Buffs improve to 11-2 in conference play and 22-9 overall, while Reinhardt falls to 5-7 in AAC action and 13-15 overall.  Milligan is 11-1 in their past 12 games.

The Buffs and Eagles return to Anglin Field on Saturday for an AAC doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
