Buffs advance past Reinhardt

Kingsport, Tenn. (May 11, 2010) --- The Milligan College Buff baseball team advanced in the AAC tournament with a 5-2 victory over AAC newcomer Reinhardt College at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn. on Tuesday morning. The Buffs will return to action this afternoon at 5 p.m., when they face top seeded Tennessee Wesleyan.

The Eagles opened up the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Milligan got on the board when Wes Anderson (Elizabethton, Tenn.) drove in Brett Maddox (Lake Butler, Fla.) to tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. After a scoreless third, the Buffs got two runs on the board in the fourth as Dallas Crouch (Jefferson City, Tenn.) drove in Eric Oxley (Ardmore, Tenn.) and a single by Todd Caldwell (Johnson City, Tenn.) brought Maddox across the plate. Milligan also added a run in the fifth.

Both teams were unable to get on the board during the sixth inning, and Reinhardt scored their first run since the first inning in the top of the seventh. However, the Buffs countered with a run of their own to take the 5-2 victory.

On the mound, Colin Duffie (Calhoun, Ga.) got the nod and the win for the Buffs. With seven innings of work, Duffie allowed four hits and two earned runs. Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) recorded the save for Milligan.

Offensively, Ricky Morgan (Johnson City, Tenn.) led the way as he was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Oxley was also 3-for-4. Maddox was 2-for-4 in the contest.

With the win, the Buffs improve to 31-20 overall and 2-1 in the tournament.

The win also advanced the Buffs to take on Tennessee Wesleyan in a rematch as the Buffs try to get revenge for last night's heartbreaking 9-8 defeat. The first pitch is slated for 5 p.m., at Hunter Wright Stadium.
