Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2010) --- The Milligan College Buff soccer team hosted Lincoln Memorial University on Friday night in a nonconference showdown, and fell by a score of 3-2 to the Railsplitters.
Milligan scored first when Sandre Wilson (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) scored on a pass from Nimely Robertson (Liberia) in the fourth minute. Daniel Fuller (Plainfield, Ind.) scored on a penalty kick in the 22nd minute. The Railsplitters got their first half goals from Hayden O'Kelly and Fernando Silveira. The second half was defensively minded with Mackenzie Wilde scoring the lone goal for the Railsplitters.
Defensively, Connor Peters (Cookeville, TN) recorded ten saves.
“They completely changed the way they played from the first half to the second.” Head Coach Adam Laney said. “They were much more conservative and played a similar style to what we do, so it was much more evenly matched.”
With the loss, the Buffs fell to 0-4.
Milligan returns to action on Wednesday, September 15th, when they play against Bluefield College in their first conference battle. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
