Milligan soccer ties Lady Patriots

Kingsport, Tenn. (September 22, 2010) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team and the University of the Cumberlands remained even after two overtimes resulting in a 0-0 tie in nonconference action on Wednesday night at Eastman Park at Horse Creek Soccer Complex in Kingsport, Tenn.

Despite a hard fought effort, the Lady Buffs were unable to score in regulation. Milligan had chances to score in both overtimes, but were unable to convert them into goals.

Defensively, Heather Crumplen (Courtice, Ontario) got the nod at goalkeeper for the Lady Buffs, and recorded 10 saves in the contest.

“A tie will do,” Head Coach Lisa Buckley said. “I felt like there were some chances where we should have scored. The first half we came out not playing great, but in the second half we found our rhythm. Honestly, we missed three 1-on-1's with the goalkeeper. It was a game that we should have put away, but that being said I am happy with a tie.”

With the tie, Milligan moves to 3-2-2 overall and remains 1-0 in AAC play.

Milligan travels to Barbourville, Ky., on Saturday, Sept. 25, for a conference clash with Union College. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
