Buffs fall to Mobile in AUM Classic

Montgomery, Ala. (Sept. 4, 2010) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team fell 3-0 to the University of Mobile on the second day of the AUM Capital City Classic in Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday afternoon.

Mobile jumped out early with a goal in the 2nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Milligan defense settled down, but trailed 1-0 at halftime. The Buffs kept fighting, but were unable to find the back of the net in the second half and keep up with the Rams.

Defensively, Connor Peters (Cookeville, Tenn.) got the nod as the goalie and recorded four saves.

“It was a good Mobile team, and it is one that I expect to do big things,” Head Coach Adam Laney said. “We played the best full half we played so far this season, but made one major mistake that cost us a goal. Overall, we are slowly getting better, and we will be ready for Lincoln Memorial on Friday.

With the loss, Milligan falls to 0-3 on the year.

The Buffs return to action on Friday, Sept. 10, when they host Lincoln Memorial University. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at Anglin Field.
