Barbourville, Ky. (Dec. 9, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's basketball overcame a double-digit deficit to take a thrilling 59-55 victory over Emmanuel College on Friday night in the Lady Bulldog Classic in Barbourville, Ky.

  Neither team could pull out to an advantage in the game's first 10 minutes as they game was tied at 10 midway through the period. Emmanuel slowly battled to take a six point lead, but the Buffaloes fought back to tie the game before trailing 22-21 at the break.

  The first nine minutes of the second half saw Emmanuel run to a 12 point lead. However, Milligan battled back as
Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) hit a 3-pointer to cap a Buffalo run to pull them within one with 3:46 left.
Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) tied the game with a 3-pointer with 2:33 on the clock, and then hit two free throws to send Milligan to the lead and the victory.

  Mainer led the way for Milligan with 20 points and nine rebounds, while
Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kelly ended the night with nine points.

  As a team, Milligan was 17-of-50 (34%) from the floor and 6-of-20 (30%) from the 3-point line. Emmanuel ended the game 20-of-65 (31%) from the field and 2-of-9 (20%) from the 3-point line.

  With the win, Milligan moves to 6-5 on the year and remain 1-1 in conference play.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10, for the second day of the Lady Bulldog Classic as they square off against Tennessee Temple. Game time in Barbourville, Ky., is slated for 2 p.m.
