Wise, Va. (Mar. 19, 2011) --- The Milligan College tennis program swept former AAC foe UVA-Wise on Saturday afternoon as the women's squad won 9-0 and the women won 8-1.
The Buffaloes opened the event with a sweep in the women's doubles as the team of
Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and
Ahmee Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) as well as the team of
Caitlin Conley (Bristol, Tenn.) and
Albany Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) won their match 8-1.
Celeste Carpenter (Mountain City, Tenn.) and JoLynee Heidt (Kingsport, Tenn.) won 8-2.
On the men's side, the team of
Ricky Jones (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and
Johannes Jonsson (Lysekil, Sweden) won their doubles match 8-4. The team of
Caleb Friddell (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and
Mickey Brown (Blountville, Tenn.) as well as the team of
Matt Clark (Kingsport, Tenn.) and
Wesley Rice (Knoxville, Tenn.) won 8-3.
“Both teams played well, and it was good for almost everyone to get a win,” Head Coach
Ryan Reynolds said. “We had a few close matches, and we stepped up when we needed to.”
The Buffaloes return to action on Monday, March 21, as they host Mars Hill College. Action is slated to start at 3 p.m.
