Bluefield, Va. (Apr. 10, 2011) --- The Milligan College women's tennis program captured the regular season AAC crown on Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Bluefield College in Bluefield, Va. The Buffaloes also saw the men's team take a 9-0 victory.
After sweeping doubles action, the women saw
Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Catlin Conley (Bristol, Tenn.),
Albany Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Hallie Winfrey (Fayetteville, Ga.), Jessi Rose Remegi (Hilton Head, S.C.) and
Ahmee Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) all captured victories in singles action.
“After starting 0-2 in the spring, it is great to bounce back and win eight of our last nine matches,” Head Coach
Ryan Reynolds said. “We have really played well of late, and everyone is playing their best heading into the postseason. Playing well at this point of the season was our goal.”
On the men's side, senior
Adam Knust (Plainfield, Ind.) picked up an impressive victory, and the Buffaloes cruised to the victory.
“It was great to see the guys close the conference season with a win,” Reynolds said.
The Milligan women finished AAC play with a 4-0 record and improves to 12-4, while the men improve to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The Buffaloes close out the season on Monday, April 18, when they host Lincoln Memorial University. The action is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
