Buffaloes softball finishes regular season with split

Milligan College, Tenn. (Apr. 21, 2011) --- The Milligan College softball team wrapped up the regular season with a split with AAC foe Montreat College on Thursday afternoon at Anglin Field. The Buffaloes fell 1-0 in the first game, but bounced back to take the second game 3-1.

The first game saw Milligan unable to answer a Lady Cavalier run in the third inning. At the plate, Camille Olvey (Maryville, Tenn.) was 2-for-3. Sidney Burns (Tallahassee, Fla.) went the distance in the pitching circle, and allowed one run on four hits.

In the second game, the Buffaloes got on the board when Olvey crossed the plate in the bottom of the first. Olvey added to the Milligan advantage in the third, and freshman Maleah Wolfenbarger (Knoxville, Tenn.) drove in Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) in the sixth to give Milligan a 3-0 advantage. The Milligan defense clamped down in the game's final inning to preserve the victory.

Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Olvey were both 2-for-3 at the plate. Burns picked up the win in the pitching circle as she allowed just one run on two hits and struck out six batters.

Milligan moves to 28-17 overall and 9-5 in the AAC.

The Buffaloes are slated to return to action on Tuesday, April 26, when they square off against Union College in the opening round of the AAC tournament in Kingsport, Tenn. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
